Sony Bravia KDL32W5500
I bought this Sony Bravia TV on a Tuesday, it was delivered by Friday and I have to say I am so happy with it (Amazon UK link on the right, Amazon US link is at the bottom of the page).
It is an absolutely brilliant TV, futureproofed (full HD, accepts 24p, and 1080p input through any of its 4 HDMI inputs). Will show pictures from a USB stick, or watch other movie files when running as your laptop’s 2nd monitor. I also have it hooked up to the network (the TV has an ethernet port) so we can stream family pictures over the network to show our extended family pictures of the little ones - the quality on this TV is MUCH better than a standard TFT computer monitor.
Obviously when using with a blu ray player it is absolutely fantastic. I can’t say that motionflow makes a massive difference with standard definition sports, but I think that’s because the picture is seriously compressed - with HD it looks fantastic (though I’ve only tested that with a blu ray disk and then set motionflow on - you wouldn’t use it for a film as it makes the film look like it was shot with a handicam, but to test motionflow it works well!). Really nice interpolation of frames. I look forward to getting Sky Sports HD - that will rule.
Highly, highly recommended. The only downside is that now I’ve seen how great 1080p HD looks I’m now struggling to watch my standard definition video recorder - I guess that is next on the list…
Can’t recommend this set enough right now, and since I wrote this review it is now £100 cheaper on Amazon (I bought it almost on the day it came out in March).
To the right here is the nearest US equivalent (size in inches, Full-HD, 120hz) at Amazon USA:

Hi, this is an interesting review. M&S have got this on special offer for £518, which even beats online deals right now. However, I’m not convinced that we need 100hz motionflow. My wife watches the usual soaps etc, and I like movies, including action films. However, neither of us really bothers with sport. The source will be SD Sky+, as well as SD DVD (which I suppose will be upscaled), and eventually, Blu-ray. Should I save my money and go for the best 50hz set I can find? Thanks for any help.

No, if you don’t watch sports then don’t get the Motionflow model - you should go for the V5500 version instead which is still full HD and bravia 3 engine, but just not 100hz. Amazon retail it at £489 or so:

Hi Matt, I ended up getting John Lewis to go as low as £499 for the W5500, so I went for it. Motionflow does seem to improve some of my films, so I’m well happy. Cheers.
